Creating Adapter

Hi
On a Win10 computer I am not able to run Viscosity properly.
If I create a connection I only see "creating...."

In the device manger I see "Viscosity Virtual Adapter V9.1" and also under Windows network adapters there is one connection "Ethernet 2" from Type Viscosity Virtual Adapter V9.1".
I tried to uninstall, restart reinstall, deleting driver files but nothing helped.

Do you have anohter idea what I can try?

Thx
Juerg

Hi Juerg,

If you go to properties on the created adapter in Device Manager and Enable the adapter, what is listed as the device status?

Eric

Hi Eric

It shows "The device is working good" (translated from german).
Since today another employee have the same issue.
Do you have another idea?

Thanks in advance
Juerg

Hi Juerg,

While in the Creating state and after the device is created, can you please check Task Manager for tapinstall.exe. If you see this, please terminate this process and see if Viscosity goes back to a normal state.

Regards,
Eric

Hi Eric
Nope, there is no process tapinstall.exe in task manager.
I just recreated the Viscosity Connection. Still the "Sep 22 10:54:35 vorm.: Awaiting new interface creation..." message in log.

Can I create the adapters manually?

Thanks
Juerg

Hi Juerg,

We've just released Viscosity 1.9 Beta1 which has a fix for an issue like this, except in the few reports we've had it's only occurred extremely rarely, never consistently like it has for you. We'd appreciate if you would give the latest beta a go and let us know if it resolves this issue or not - https://sparklabs.com/support/kb/articl ... -versions/

Eric

Hi Juerg,

In short, there was a dead lock happening when we tried to get diagnostics data on why the driver install failed. The irony here is the driver install wasn't failing, Windows has just started randomly reporting it has in some cases since a recent update. In your case, it seems it must have been reporting a failed install every time which is something we haven't seen.

Eric
