I was attempting to set up a split VPN tunnel, as there are some pieces of software out there that are able to be set up to use the VPN device to be routed through and then have other pieces of software simply use the normal (non-VPN) devices and routing. To that end, in previous support messages, it has been advised that the user make sure to untick the box that marked "Send all traffic over VPN connection" in the Networking tab of the application. This is referenced in ... networking

But in the Windows version of the application, at least 1.7.3 (build 1521), no such option exists.

In the Networking tab, all I see is a section marked "All Traffic:" with a drop-down menu with options of "Automatic (set by server)", "Send all traffic over VPN Connection", "Send all IPv4 traffic over VPN Connection", and "Send all IPv6 traffic over VPN Connection" and none of these behave like the option referenced by the support team or the support documentation, as every option by default routes everything over the VPN.

Hi cslycord,

The drop down replaced the checkbox as it reflected what the option did poorly. Under previous versions of Viscosity, unticking the "Send all traffic" put Viscosity and OpenVPN into a Set By Server mode. If the server pushed a directive to send all traffic over the VPN connection, this is what would happen. If not, only routes are obeyed.

If you are setting the option to Automatic now and all your traffic is still routed over the VPN, this means that the server you are connecting to is pushing an option to send all traffic over the VPN. If you do not wish for this to happen, you have two options. The easiest by far is to contact your VPN Provider and request a server that does not push this option, if you're not sure who this is, please see - ... ovider-is/

Your other option is to setup your connection to ignore pushed routes with the route-nopull option - ... ute-nopull

Keep in mind this option will ignore all pushed routes and we only recommend going this route if you have a clear understanding on how to setup your VPN tunnel correctly. You will need to contact your VPN Provider for assistance if you're unsure about this.

We will get that support article updated as soon as we can.
