Upgrade to 1.4.4: A valid network does not exist.

I upgraded my copy of Viscosity to 1.4.4. Now when I try to connect, I get the message:

A valid network to the remote server does not exist.

This has happened on two different machines. My previous install of Viscosity worked fine.

Hi Tom,

I seem to be getting some weird results off different DNS repositories for that address. Could you please try the following for us and post your results:

Open a command prompt by pressing start, type cmd then select cmd.exe that appears in the search list.

Type 'nslookup vpn.nimbusdb.com' without quotes into the command window and press Enter
Once that is finished, type 'ping vpn.nimbusdb.com' into the command window and press Enter

Once that is finished, can you please post the results that appear in that command window.

Regards,

Eric

Hi Tom,

The data you posted above means there is no route for data to reach your VPN Provider, which is why Viscosity can't connect. Either the DNS Name is resolving to multiple IP address and is pulling an incorrect one, or there are multiple servers in your configuration that are failing to find a route.

If neither of these are the case, you will need to contact your VPN Provider and see if they can provide a server address for you that can be reached - http://sparklabs.com/support/how_do_i_f ... _my_vpn_p/

If there was no route, then why does Viscosity 1.4.2 work fine?

Hi Tom,

It looks like your server must be blocking ICMP packets which is throwing a false positive for Viscosity when checking for a valid path to the server. We will get this looked at and get a beta up with a fix as soon as we can.

Eric
