Hello, Viscosity is not working after I upgrade the operating system to Monterey 12 Beta 7 release. You can check the release notes here : https://developer.apple.com/documentati ... ease-notes.

I don't know what I can share to you but as I can see the application is working on activity monitor but it is no appear on the top right application list. So, I could not reach the application interface. I could not connect to VPNs, etc.

Interestingly, I found the issue. I have 2 different network, wifi and cable. I close the wifi and I reopen the application with force kill from activity monitor. And it just worked.

I've been running Monterey beta (and Viscosity beta) for some time with no problems. Updated to Monterey beta 7 yesterday and it appears this has broken Viscosity — or at least version 1.10b4. I have since uninstalled that and went back to 1.9.4 but it has the same issue. My Cisco VPN 4.10 client still allows me to connect to my office network fine, however.

I had Viscosity set to automatically start up, and I could see it was running in Activity Monitor but no icon was visible on the menu bar to access it. If I manually launched Viscosity a second time, the original process would become unresponsive and required a force-quit.

Is version 1.10b4 still the latest beta? I cannot find a manual download. Now that I have 1.9.4 installed, I would normally enable beta updates and check for updates but I can't open the 1.9.4 interface either so I'm stuck.

Grabbed some info from Console if any of this helps. Also attaching a ViscosityHelper crash log.

Hi Folks,

macOS 12 will be officially supported by Viscosity when it’s released.

I’m afraid we cannot offer support for running Viscosity on beta versions of macOS. macOS beta versions are typically buggy, and often bugs are introduced between beta releases. In this instance it’s highly likely you’re encountering a macOS framework or API bug, which is causing the behaviour you’re seeing with Viscosity.

All I can recommend at this stage is dropping back to macOS 11.6, or seeing if the issue is resolved in the next macOS 12 beta update.

[Update] If you are still experiencing problems with version 1.10 of Viscosity on the release version of macOS 12 please see Viscosity Does Not Start on macOS 12 (Monterey).

Cheers,
James

I understand you cannot actively support a beta operating system. However, it would be helpful if:

1. You can say whether 1.10b4 is still the latest version of the Viscosity beta.
2. You could provide a direct download to whatever the latest Viscosity beta is, since we cannot currently install 1.9.4 in order to use the in-app mechanism to update to the beta. Should you release an updated Viscosity beta that works around the Monterey beta 7 issue, we have no way to obtain it.

I unfortunately have to operate on the macOS beta track in order to be properly prepared for when it is released. I can essentially work around the issue by running a Big Sur VM in Parallels and using my Viscosity license there instead but it is a clunky workaround.

I would also note that we're effectively doing public testing of your own beta.

Turn WiFi completely off; launch Viscosity; turn WiFi back on.
