I've seen references to this in the past but for those reports running newer version seemed to fix it for them. Given I am running the current version, that won't work for me. ;) Any tips on how to see why it isn't starting?

Hi TheRealBill,

It likely points to a problem with the connection's configuration. Normally you should see an error message regarding the problem from OpenVPN, however in some cases no message may be available. If you'd like for us to take a look at the configuration, please post it here (you're encouraged to censor out any sensitive details first) and we'll see if anything stands out.

You can view the configuration data for your Viscosity connection by opening Viscosity’s Preferences window, holding down the Option key on your keyboard, right-clicking (or control-clicking) on your connection, and selecting “View Configuration Data”.

Besides that, it could point to the OpenVPN process being unable to start. Try restarting your computer (to ensure there is no resource contention), and ensure that there is no third party software that may be preventing OpenVPN from running (such as firewall or other security software).

Cheers,
James
