After installing Viscosity it seems that my internet connection is very slow when I have the VPN running. When I disconnect everything is back to normal speed.

Is there a configuration I'm not setting right? Or is there a way to have only certain applications running through the VPN? I only have one app that I want my remote users using through VPN.

Thanks

Eric

Hi rmtworek,

Slow connections speeds are usually a problem with your VPN Provider having some network issues. It sounds like you manage the remote server though, is that the case? If so, lowering (or sometime raising) the MTU in Viscosity or the server can help, but 99% of the time the problem is caused by the pipe being flooded at your servers end. If you can be a bit more specific as to how the server is setup (OS, connection speed to internet, OpenVPN Version, etc) we might be able to offer some further suggestions. In the case you do connect to a VPN Provider, we recommend contacting them though. If you're unsure who your provider is, have a read of this - http://thesparklabs.com/support/how_do_ ... _my_vpn_p/

In regards to only having one application run through the VPN, unfortunately there is no easy way to do this, but, if you know where the traffic for the application is going and coming from, you can setup routes. James has a good write up in response to similar question here that should help - http://www.thesparklabs.com/forum/viewt ... 1049#p1049

Cheers,

Eric

Thank you for the reply, Eric!
I usually use VPN at work and I faced the same problem of slow browsing with Viscosity. I guess I
ll just quit VPN and try to run Viscosity without it.
