Hi henkkay,

I recommend checking the following:

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Viscosity installed (version 1.8.1 at the time of writing), as older versions may not be fully compatible with the latest versions of Windows.

2. Make sure Viscosity is running by opening it from the Start menu. Viscosity also has a background service, so if you're seeing a process named something like "ViscosityService" in the Task Manager but nothing else Viscosity related, then it likely means Viscosity isn't running.

3. Viscosity won't display an icon to the left of the Start bar, or have any pop-up windows on launch. However if Viscosity is running there should be an icon in the system tray (just near the clock). Windows will often auto-hide many of these icons: you can access them all by clicking on the small arrow to the left of them.

4. Make sure that any anti-virus or similar software isn't mistakenly blocking Viscosity. Please see the following link for more information on what to check:
https://www.sparklabs.com/support/kb/article/troubleshooting-viscosity-problems-windows/#viscosity-does-not-start

5. If you're running Windows XP theme in Windows 7, the Viscosity system tray icon may not be easily visible (as it's a white icon on a white background). You can workaround this by running the following command in the Command Prompt, and then restarting Viscosity:
Code: Select all
"C:\Program Files\Viscosity\Viscosity.exe" SetPref SystemDarkMode false

6. Finally, if none of the above options help, check the Event Viewer to see if there are any error messages or warnings from Viscosity:

Cheers,
James
