Connectivity issues

Hi,

I'm having a strange connection problem... I use VPN on my router and also on my Windows 10 computer. If I connect the VPN on my router first and then try to connect via Viscosity, I can't access the internet (Windows 10 troubleshooting tells me something about proxy settings that couldn't be detected automatically - although I don't actually use a proxy). If I turn off the VPN on the router and establish the VPN via Viscosity, it'll work fine. If, after getting Viscosity going, I turn on the router VPN as well, it'll still work fine. If I disconnect Viscosity and try to connect it again, I will get no connection.

My guess is that I'm having this problem since the last Viscosity update.

Oddly, if I configure Viscosity to use OpenVPN 2.3 instead of 2.4, I have no issues whatsoever.

Any idea what's going on? All servers are running OpenVPN 2.4.

(Also, is there any security issue with using OpenVPN 2.3 in the interim?)

Thanks!

Hi gooey,

Could you please post a copy of your log, it sounds like a configuration issue with OpenVPN 2.4 more than anything.

OpenVPN 2.3 is safe to use, but will be removed in the future as it is now considered out of date.

Regards,
Eric

Hi,

Looks like you're on the right track - but do you have an address I can send this to? I'd rather not post my internals all over the internet. Thanks!
