I have a default Windows 10 install. Fresh install on a new Surface Book. Connecting to my work VPN.

I come from OSX, and when using Tunnel Blick, I never had these problems, so it's hard to blame the work network :)

Okay so, when I reboot, Viscosity connects, public IP changes, and all good. Sometime throughout the day, my laptop goes to sleep. Not always, sometimes, when I want to reconnect to the VPN, it connects, gets my 10.x IP, but my public IP no longer changes.

I've tried disabling / enabling the VPN interface, no luck. When I reboot, Viscosity starts working again, so I'm sure it's a local problem but I have no idea what it could be.

Help? :)

Thanks!

Eric

Hi drecca,

How are you determining your public IP? A lot of web browsers like to attach themselves to the network when they are opened instead of treating each request as a new network connection. After you wake from sleep, you may need to close all your web browsers or other internet connected software and reopen it after reconnecting to your VPN.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the reply! I use Google Chrome, and closed it. Reopened it, still the wrong public IP.

Thoughts? Anything else I can try?

Hi drecca,

Seems like it might be a routing problem then, please check through the following - http://sparklabs.com/support/kb/article ... connection

Hi Eric,

Did all that. The first hop is the 10.x IP and then the gateway of the VPN and then the open internet.

All traffic is routed through the VPN.

It just happened again, but this time I was actively working and using the connection on my laptop.

Internal sites are still working, but the public IP is back to being that of my ISP. Closed browser, reopened, same thing.

Any ideas?

I also tested this by using other browsers, going to the one site that is locked to the VPN public IP. They've never been there before, and all get locked out because it's not the right public IP.

Hi drecca,

I'm afraid there isn't a lot we can do to help here. Something on your PC is changing the way traffic is being routed on your PC, or the routes your VPN Connection is using are somehow being removed or lost. If you run any form of security software please disable it completely as a test.

Eric
