Hi,

Our Viscosity clients are configured to work with PKCS#11 smart card. First, users need to provide their Username/Password and then smart card PIN.

So the authentication experience is:

1) A window pops up which shows Username and Password fields. Users are supposed to enter their domain credentials here.
2) A new window pops up showing Password field. Users are supposed to enter their smart card PIN here.

Apparently this is very confusing for ordinary users. Since the second window says "Password" they think it's still their domain password (and really there is no hint it's not). Obviously after entering domain password several times their smart cards gets blocked.

We suggest changing the second window label "Password" to "PIN", or "Smart Card PIN", or "PKCS#11 PIN". This will clarify the confusion.

Thank you

James

Hi davitb,

I'm afraid there is not much to add at this stage. We take all feedback on board, but we always have a long list of To-Dos.

As the PIN request is coming via OpenVPN, Viscosity has limited information about the reason behind the request, which is why you're seeing a generic password dialog. One way we want to address this is to completely handle PKCS#11 devices from Viscosity, which would allow it to be a lot smarter regarding PIN requests and management. However it's no small task and something that's still on our To-Do list.

Cheers,
James
