viscosity -> ovpn -> pfsense -> samba share problems

Hey there,

First I would like to thank you all for a great OpenVPN client. There isn't an app out there near as simple and clean as this for OpenVPN.

I am currently having issues connecting from Viscosity to a Samba share behind a pfsense firewall.

When I connect to our office, I can access everything (RDP/VNC/Web Apps/etc.).

However, when I click Finder and try to connect to server, I get a failure:

The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "smb://123.123.123.123/data/" could not be read or written. (Error code -36)

This only happens when I am trying to connect to this Samba share via Viscosity/OpenVPN.

I am not currently sending all traffic over the OpenVPN connection. Each time I have tried that, my traffic has stopped.

Anyone have any ideas where I should begin to resolve this?

Thanks!

Nevermind! I fixed my own issue after a second's thought.

When following the pfSense setup for OpenVPN, it has you set up a range like 192.168.2.X while your LAN network exists on 192.168.1.X.

Basically, I did not have Samba set to allow any hosts from the 192.168.2.X network.

Works like a charm now!

Thanks again for a great product!
