Got a problem with Viscosity or need help? Ask here!
Since updating to v1.7 (1393), I get the following error:
2017-05-25 07:32:34: Connection is reachable. Starting connection attempt.
2017-05-25 07:32:36: Options error: Unrecognized option or missing or extra parameter(s) in /var/folders/zz/zyxvpxvq6csfxvn_n0000000000000/T/connection.K51zyK/config.conf:20: float (2.4.2)
2017-05-25 07:32:36: The OpenVPN subsystem could not be started.
2017-05-25 07:32:36: State changed to Kopplar från
I have tried reinstalling but it still does not work. Everything worked fine until latest update. What should I do?

Hi rakuga,
The error indicates that there is an invalid command ("float") in your connection’s configuration:
Removing the command should allow you to connect again. You'll need to remove it from the advanced commands area for your connection. Please see:

Code: Select all
Viscosity 1.7 updates from OpenVPN 2.3 to version 2.4, which includes a number of big security changes, including stricter configuration checking. In this instance it’s likely the connection authentication type isn't one that allows the use of the float command (it's also typically only used server-side).Options error: Unrecognized option or missing or extra parameter(s) in /var/folders/zz/zyxvpxvq6csfxvn_n0000000000000/T/connection.K51zyK/config.conf:20: float (2.4.2)

Thank you for the quick reply.
The settings looked like this:
ifconfig 46.xx.xx.xx 255.255.255.224
comp-lzo adaptive
float 46.xx.xx.x
cipher AES-256-CBC
I removed the line "float 46.xx.xx.x "
It still wont connect and I get the following error now:

Hi rakuga,
Can you please post a full copy of the configuration file for your connection? You can view this like so:
1. Open Viscosity's Preferences window and ensure that the Connections toolbar section is selected.
2. While holding down the Option key on your keyboard, right-click (or control-click) on your connection in the connections list and select "View Configuration Data" from the menu that appears. If the "View Configuration Data" option isn't present in the menu please ensure that the Option key was held down when opening the menu.
3. Select the contents and copy-paste it into a forum reply (i.e. highlight all of the text and then press Command-C on your keyboard).
4. Click Close.
Please feel free to censor out any sensitive details (such as the remote address) before posting.
Cheers,
James
