I've finally got my vpn conx up and running but what next? I was kind of thinking my ubuntu file system would pop up in 'shared' . Am I missing something here? Can anyone tell me how to mount my filesystem?

Many thanks...

Hi Pete,

If you have a TAP based connection (i.e. bridging), then in most cases your server would appear in the Shared sidebar. However for TUN based connections this is not the case.

However you can still easily connect to your server (and manually drag it to the sidebar if you want to). To do this, while in the Finder, go to the "Go" menu and select "Connect to server...". If your Ubuntu server has Mac file sharing enabled (AFP), simply enter the IP address (the name might also work depending on your network), and click Connect. If the server has Windows file sharing enabled (SMB), instead enter "smb://" followed by your IP address (e.g. "smb://192.168.1.1").

Cheers,
James
