Connect to SAMBA shares
Got a problem with Viscosity or need help? Ask here!
Hi,
I'm really not an expert so this might be simple but I can't figure it out myself.
So Open VPN is installed on my Ubuntu Server at work.
Lots of people can connect using Windows VPN clients.
I'm the only MAC user, so I got Viscosity.
Entering my connection information and trying to connect is fine.
Viscosity shows me as connected and gives me a client IP.
Now the way I usually connect to my SMB shares is using the Finder, with "Connect to" and typing in :
smb://10.0.1.250
which is the internal IP of the SMB server
I also tryed the external IP of the server.
None work.
I also noticed that Viscosity displays that my client IP is 10.0.2.10 (I would expect something in the 10.0.1.X range) - I don't know if this is relevant.
Please Help !

Hi uge,
It sounds possible you might have a routing issue on your hands. When you setup Viscosity, did you set it up manually yourself, or did your administrator give you a config file to import?
You could try the following:
1. Edit your connection in Viscosity (under Preferences)
2. Click on the Networking tab
3. Click the small "+" button in the Routing section
4. Enter "10.0.1.0" as the Route/IP (no quotes)
5. Enter "255.255.255.0" as the Mask
6. Enter "vpn_gateway" as the Gateway
7. Click the Add button. Click Save, and then try connecting again.
Cheers,
James
